Manuscript Preparation

The AJBMS Editorial Board endorses the principles in Helsinki Declaration of 1975, as revised in 2008 (5). All investigations involving humans will have been performed in accordance with these principles. For the articles reporting the experiments on animals, it is expected that the authors/investigators will have observed the Interdisciplinary Principles and Guidelines for the Use of Animals in Research, Testing, and Education issued by the New York Academy of Sciences Adhoc Committee on Animal Research. All animal and human researches must have been approved by the authors/investigators' Institutions.

Review Process

Members of the editorial board will review the received manuscripts to determine if the manuscripts are appropriate for evaluation by expert reviewers. The manuscripts not prepared in the advised style will be sent back to authors without scientific review. Editorial staff sends the reference number to the authors upon manuscript registration at the Editorial Office. The authors are encouraged to suggest the names of possible reviewers for their papers, however we reserve the right for the final selection of the expert reviewers. We strive to return reviewers’ comments to authors within 5 weeks. The manuscripts after authors have made final revisions will be reviewed again by the editors. Accepted papers will be published online at AJBMS promptly.

Criteria for Manuscripts

Editorial Board of American Journal of Biomedical Sciences (AJBMS) considers the manuscripts in all areas of biomedical sciences for publication with the understanding that any part of its essential contents hasn't been published previously in print form or electronically. The submission of the manuscripts should be accompanied by the statement that the work has not been published previously or submitted elsewhere for review and copyright transfer. AJBMS discourages the submission of more than one manuscript dealing with related aspects of the same study.

Processing Charges

All articles in AJBMS (ISSN 1937-9080) are published in full open access. Overwhelming majority of the publishers with open access policy request the authors to pay article processing fees to cover the costs related to peer review, copyediting, typesetting, permanent archiving, and journal management. However, we are currently funded by the investors to support the transition of all research to full open access, so has decided to waive the article processing fees for all authors who submit the manuscripts before January 2024. For the manuscripts submitted and accepted after January 2024, the details of article processing charge will be announced by the end of 2023.

Conflict of Interests

Authors of the manuscripts should disclose at the time of submission any financial arrangement they may have with a corporate whose product plays a major role in the submitted manuscripts or with a company making a competitive product. When authors submit a manuscript of any type or format they are responsible for disclosing all financial and personal relationships that might bias or be seen to bias their work. AJBMS has adopted ICMJE recommendations and requires all authors to submit us a ICMJE form for the Discloure of Conflicts of Interest

AJBMS requires that reviewers and the members of editorial board reveal in a letter to the Editor-in-Chief any relationships that they have that could be construed as causing a conflict of interest with regard to a manuscript under review. Any financial relationships with commercial companies involved with a product under study should be included in the letter.

For this purpose we ask that non-native English speakers ensure their manuscripts are checked before submitting them for consideration. We suggest that for this purpose your manuscript be revised by an English speaking colleague before submission.
